Why does our work matter?

When people experiencing homelessness can depend on consistent, reliable food-sharing programs, they can at least be sure that their most basic need will be met

Food is a basic need. Nobody should have to worry about where their next meal comes from. With restaurants throwing away 4-10% of the food they purchase annually, there is certainly enough food to feed everyone. If people experiencing homelessness or those facing food insecurity don't have to worry about finding food, they can focus that time and energy on other parts of their lives.

The Mission

​The Food Saver Project fights food insecurity by conserving extra restaurant food that would otherwise go to waste, and transporting it to homeless shelters and food banks where it can be served to people in need.
